I am very frustrated with the experience I had here. I was sold 900$ in repairs. A month later, I went to another mechanic. I was told that my car was in such bad shape, I should immediately get new car and not spend another dollar on repairs. So unless something drastically changed in my car within a month, which I don’t think it did, I was sold repairs that I shouldn’t have gotten. I don’t know if the 900$ repair was an intentional upsell, or if the most crucial errors with my car were missed. But either way I’m very agitated with spending 900$ on repairs, when instead I should really be buying a new car.

Will, I am sorry you are frustrated with the service you received and wish you would have come to me directly. However, we did replace some parts that were quotes months prior, that where the biggest concern and gave you several more estimates for more repairs that where less pressing. It is our job to inform you of the condition of your vehicle. It is not my place to decide if your vehicle is "worth it" to fix. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to me.

Not only does Nick do a fantastic job with our cars but any time we have a minor problem (can't remount a tire on a utility wagon, can't get a wiper blade off) he tells us to bring it right in and he takes care of it.

I just moved from Madison Wisconsin to Epworth Iowa on Oct 2nd 2025. One of the things I was going to miss was my Mechanic that I went to for many years. I was a little worried when I got here about finding a trustworthy good Mechanic here. I researched and chose Nick at Peosta to work on my older vehicle I use as a hauler. Nick is great! Highly recommended going with Klein and crew at Peosta Automotive. They are straight forward, honest, and don’t beat around the bush. I found them by chance getting a tire that wasn’t holding any air when I was at a Peosta gas station. They don’t gouge you on price, and it’s why I continue to drive out my way from Dubuque to Peosta for my car services. I had another incident issue with my wheel being dented and a tire wouldn’t hold air, they told me to order the part at cost, gave me the link and I shipped it straight to them, they fixed it for me and saved me hundreds of dollars. Since that tire incident, I’ve done all my brake work, wheel bearings, drive shafts, tires and I’ve more than likely saved thousands of dollars with better service.

They did a thorough job diagnosing issues with my Tahoe and gave me options. I chose an engine replacement. During the replacement, they found other electrical issues which they replaced at their own expense. My old Tahoe now runs like new. I generally do not bother leaving reviews, but the experience really stood out here so I thought it was worth sharing. This was our first visit to Peosta Automotive, and the takeaway was simply appreciation for the time and effort Nick put into helping us identify and solve our issue. He spent time talking through the issue on the phone before we even decided to bring it in, and he took time in the shop to troubleshoot and determine what was actually wrong rather than guessing and trying a bunch of things and running a bill up. Great communication and honest service - kind-of rare to find a lot of times anymore!

These guys fit me in for what I thought was an emergency, but turned out to be a very minor issue due to the cars high mileage. Their honesty and willingness to shoehorn me in with less than 90 minutes of time left earned them full marks and a new loyal customer!

We got a flat tire driving on the highway, and the wrench we had could not fit the deformed lug nuts, one of the local shop staff came over (not from Peosta Auto) but probably made things more complicated, and we had to call the towing company in the end. Peosta Automotive fit our car into their schedule even if it was already late afternoon on a Friday. We told them the lug nuts situation, so they ordered a new set right away and have things all prepared when we arrived, after halt an hour we were able to get on the road again. It is a small shop with reasonable price, but provide great service you don't see from many others.
